Uhm, attitude: “What the heck is wrong with you mommy and daddy?” Totally ridiculous but part of the package when you decide to have a kid. One thing I’ve learned about Lillian is that she’s not afraid to voice negative frustration which for the most part isn’t really a good thing. At the same time, I LOVE this side of her because it tells me she’s got some fire in her; that she’s got something to say and that she’s gonna say it! Though I hope she can temper it some because attitude can sometimes backfire on you. At an indoor play facility last week, Lillian got into her first fight.

Yeah, dawg. Fight.

She was getting pushed around a bit by an older boy. After about a half hour of being bullied, she finally stiff-armed the older boy because he was in her space, giving him this very same face with a little Chinese grunt to go with it. And I was like, “Yeahhh, girl. Show him you got some guts… protect your space” while at the same time I was thinking in my head, I can’t condone this “It’s all about my stuff” attitude. So as I was telling her to be nice, the older boy made a fist and hit her (well more like nudged her) and she started bawling her little eyes out. And I sort of laughed because it pretty much showed me that tough girl is more like softy girl. And honestly that’s okay with me because it confirms for me that while Lillian can be rough with us on the outside, she’s really all heart on the inside.
